Vino Compass Borovets

How this guide works

Where to drink wine in Borovets, when it's open, and what a glass and a bottle cost: all from public sources, and all of it can change. Here is where it comes from.

The places

31 of the 48 places here are on OpenStreetMap, the map anyone can edit, and sit on our map where OpenStreetMap puts them; a hotel's bar or restaurant is placed at its hotel. 4 more come from borovets.eu, our guide to the resort, placed at their building or by the venue's own map. The other 13 are where their Google Maps listing pins them. We looked each one up on Google Maps for what OpenStreetMap doesn't say: its opening times, its website and its menu, and whether it has closed. We take nothing else from Google: no ratings, no reviews, no photos. Last updated 4 November 2026.

We have opening times for 31 of the 48 places, 26 of them from their Google Maps listing and the rest from OpenStreetMap. The crawls leave out a place that will be shut when you'd get there. Where we don't have a place's hours, they go by the hours places of its kind keep, going by the 31 whose hours we have: a bar 08:00 to 23:30, a restaurant 09:00 to 23:00. Hours change through the ski season, so check before you go.

The wines and prices

Every wine comes from the venue's own website or the menu its listing links to, read by hand, politely: we respect robots.txt, wait at least five seconds between pages and say who we are. 1 of the places put a wine list online that we could read. We list wine names, vintages, sizes and prices, and leave the venue's tasting notes on their site. The grape, style and country beside a wine are ours, read from the list's own words.

Prices are in euros, Bulgaria's currency since 1 January 2026; a list still priced in leva is from before then, so we list its wines without the prices. The figures count a 175ml glass of still wine from €3 to €25 (125ml for sparkling wine) and a 75cl bottle from €10 to €500, at list price. A smaller glass (a list may pour 100ml or 150ml) is shown at its size, but only a 175ml glass counts in the typical figures. Lists change, and the price online isn't always the price at the bar: check with the venue.

The crawls

The wine crawls walk the streets and paths on OpenStreetMap between places that pour wine by the glass. Our server plans each crawl, so the walks stay with us. From where you are, your location stays in your browser: it finds the place nearest you to start from, and only that and roughly how far away it is are sent to us; we don't keep them.

What we don't use

No reviews and no star ratings, from Google or anywhere else, and no paying for a place in the guide: every venue is listed, and its page written, the same way (how the guide pays for itself).

Privacy

This edition sets no cookies and counts no visits: there's no analytics on it. If you sign in (with Google) to save crawls and places, we keep the name and email address Google gives us, that you said you're 18 or over, and what you save, in Google's Firebase: sign-in records in the US, what you save in London. Nothing else, never where you are, and we don't use it to contact you. Your account page lets you download it all, or delete the account and everything in it.

The weather forecast comes from this site's own server, which asks for Borovets's about once an hour: nothing about you goes with it.

Corrections and removal

Run a venue and want a price fixed, your hours corrected or your venue taken off the guide? Email contact@plymouthresearch.uk with the venue's name. We'll take it off at the next update and stop reading your site.

Drink responsibly

A 175ml glass of 13% wine is about 2.3 units, and a 75cl bottle about 10. Altitude and a day on the slopes make a glass go further, and the walk back can be icy.
